News Center

Where can I find news headlines on the site?

There are several places on your site that you may find news.  News headlines widgets can appear in the main body portlets, as well as in your left menu.



The top of your homepage features a news ticker, with constantly updating news headlines.  (See below for more information.)



Click the More News link at the right hand end of your news ticker to access your news center.  (See below for more information.)'



How does the news ticker work?

Your news ticker will show alternating headlines from up to five different news sources.  Click the headline to open a new window and read the full story. Use the tools at the right hand end to move to the next headline, or to go back.    Click the arrow on the left hand end next to these tools to close the news ticker.   



You can also click the "+" at the right hand end of the ticker to open a layer and see all of the headlines for one news feed. Use the dropdown menu at the top of the layer to select any of the other feeds from the ticker.  Click a headline to open a new window and read the complete story.



How can I customize the ticker?

You can select five different news feeds to appear in your homepage ticker. To make this change, click the More News link at the right hand end of the ticker to access your news center.



Click the My Ticker link at the top of the news center page.



All available news feeds will be listed. Check up to five of the feeds, and click the Update Ticker button to save your changes.  Please note that making any changes will override the selection of ticker news feeds that appear on your site be default - these new feeds will appear instead of the feeds you have been seeing, not in addition to them.  When you return to your homepage, the new feeds will be running in your ticker.



How do I access my News Center?

You can access your news center from several places on the homepage.  Click the More News link at the right hand end of the news ticker, or click the RSS News Center link in your toolbox.



How do I use and customize the News Center?

To access your news center, click the More News link at the right hand end of the news ticker, or click the RSS News Center link in your toolbox.  On this page you can access headlines from a wide variety of news feeds not available on your homepage.  Click any headline to open a new window and read the complete story.  Click the name of any news feed in the folders on the left to see all headlines for that feed.



Add a new feed to your folders by clicking the Add Your Own Feed or Add Directory Feed link in the upper left corner of the page.  



Add a directory feed from the feeds library by clicking "Add a feed from our extensive library."  You'll find a variety of feeds categorized on this page. Check those feeds you wish to add to your personal news center, and click the Update Feeds button to save your changes.



Add your own feed (found online) by entering the feed url into the "Enter Your RSS Link" field.  Click the On to Step 2 button to name and save the feed in a folder.
